Medical and Master students, PhD-students and researchers/staff at The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and St. Olavs University Hospital.
This course is held in English.
We have computers for the participants, but it is possible to bring your own laptop (with EndNote X7 or X8 installed). EndNote must be pre-installed, as we cannot assist with installing EndNote during the lecture. EndNote will be demonstrated together with Word 2016, but users with Word 2013 or Word for Mac will have full advantages of this class (Please note that Word 2016 users must have updated to EndNote X7.5 or later versions). The library has a wireless NTNU-network (Eduroam).
EndNote is a reference management program that allows you to create your own reference library and use the program to insert citations into a manuscript and generate a correctly formatted bibliography (reference list). This introductory course will teach you how to create your personal library and fill it with references in different ways. You will also learn about Cite While You Write, where EndNote and Word cooperate when you insert citations into the text and automatically creates a bibliography at the end of the manuscript. You will also learn how you later can use EndNote to change the formatting of citations and bibliography according to the rules of the journal you want to publish in.
The EndNote program is freely available for NTNU students and staff (NTNU site license). The latest edition is X8.0.2 (Windows and Mac). You can download the program from Progdist (sofware.ntnu.no) or ask the Oracle service/local IT-support for help.
