How should I incorporate text written by others in my own when citing? How do I properly reference the sources I’ve used? What counts as plagiarism—and how can I avoid it? This course answers these questions and more.
We'll guide you through why and how to use direct and indirect quotations, and how to clearly distinguish between your own writing and someone else’s when citing in your assignment. We’ll also cover reference techniques, introduce various citation styles, and show you how to use them. The course will help you apply your sources accurately and responsibly.
The course lasts about two hours and is the second of two sessions designed to help you get started with your assignment. The first one is called A Flying Start to Your Thesis 1: Learn About Literature Searching and Source Criticism, but each course can be taken independently. You decide whether to attend both or just one.
